Who is Yonko Kaido?
Kaido is therefore one of the four emperors. While he is the third whose name fans may have heard, he is actually the last to debut in the anime. We know that his first steps as a pirate were taken as part of the Rocks crew . He then decided to set sail and take his share of the pie by taking charge of his own crew, the “hundred beasts” crew. With the latter, he currently dominates the Country of Wano and no one except Luffy has had the desire to come and challenge his territory...
Kaido's size
We previously praised the incredible size of Whitebeard, whose height of 6.66 meters allowed him to tower over his opponents head and shoulders. 👊 Well you haven't seen everything yet! Kaido sets records for disproportion on his own. During his appearance with Eustass Kidd, he appears to be six times taller than the latter, who nevertheless measures a little over 2 meters... We'll let you do the math, it's immense!
But according to new reports, Oda made it bigger than it actually is. We don't know the exact height, but as you can see in the image above, Kaido is almost 6 meters tall.
And that's without counting on his muscles. Kaido is finally as wide as he is tall, full of power and ready to crush everything in his path. Which contrasts with his head, which appears very small compared to the rest of his body. His long hair, his endless beard and his immense horns on his head 👹 contribute even more to give him a gigantic appearance .
Kaido's Bounty
It's quite simple, Kaido is currently the most wanted pirate by the World Government! Due to his position as Emperor , he necessarily entered the closed circle of pirates considered the most dangerous. 😱 Its value, which is estimated at 4,611,100,000 Berrys, leaves no room for doubt.
Absolutely no one can challenge him. Of all the other pirates still alive, only Shanks and especially Charlotte Linlin come even remotely close. Only Whitebeard and Gol D. Roger , both deceased, ⚰️ ever managed to have a higher bonus .
Kaido's Devil Fruit
By eating a Mythical Zoan type Devil Fruit, 🍍 which is also called “Kaido Fruit”, the emperor can transform into an oriental dragon – just that – just like Momonosuke! However, it seems that Kaido has much better control over his metamorphosis, while maintaining his gigantic size.
When he takes his Dragon form, Kaido can of course fly and dominate the air, but also spit fireballs so powerful that they are capable of reducing large buildings to ashes in the space of an hour. second. Kaido's Jolly Roger
We know too little about Kaido's naval fleet, but we are sure of one thing. One of the three Calamities did not fail to give a personal touch to his boat.⛵ Jack's fleet is made up of 5 boats, 4 of which have a Scorpion as their figurehead. As for Jack's ship, it is comparable to a giant mammoth head , whose tusks necessarily recall Jack's horns and devil fruit. The yellow eyes of the beast terrify anyone in front of this Calamity's boat, always ready to charge into the pile!
Each of the five ships is as equipped with large sails as to see the Jolly Roger of the Hundred Beasts crew in the distance. 🐑 Their symbol is a skull with large teeth, behind which four shins intersect, which is strangely reminiscent of the Jolly Roger of Blackbeard's crew . The skull of the Hundred Beasts necessarily has the additional detail of being adorned with a pair of horns, like Kaido.
The Hundred Beasts Crew
We've already talked about it a lot, the Hundred Beasts crew is obviously one of the darkest crews of its generation. ☠️ And if only there were only 100, but no, Kaido's crew numbers no less than 30,000 men ! Everyone is distributed within a hierarchy which allows them to gradually climb the ladder.
To get there, you simply have to be the strongest . The rise is then dazzling. To complete the stages, a crew member can ask to compete against another to take their place. 🤼♀️ This could create distortions and conflicts, as the crew is not very united, but it seems that the Emperor has managed to gain enough loyalty from each member of his crew for everyone to accept their status.
The hierarchy is therefore in the following order: Captain Kaido has supreme authority over his men through his role as Commander-in-Chief. Next come the three Calamities , who can be seen as the emperor's right-hand men. They are the highest ranking people. Just below come the Headliners. There are ten of them and the six most powerful are nicknamed the “Tobiroppo”, and finally we find the gifters and the crews allied to Kaido 💪
The three Calamities
They are also nicknamed the “All-Stars” . These high-ranking officers make all the decisions and crush their subordinates in the absence of their captain. To achieve this status, they of course had to prove themselves and demonstrate that they were the strongest pirates of the Hundred Beast Crew. So here are Jack, Queen and King. 👑
Jack
Jack, like the other two and like many of the important members of the crew, ate a devil fruit, the Zo Zo no Mi, Mammoth model! This fruit gives it the ability to transform into… mammoth. 🐗 No wonder he has incredible strength and endurance. Nicknamed "the Drought" , he quickly made a name for himself in the New World for his cruelty and for his penchant for sadistic displays. The last of the bunch, the one about whom we know the least. He also likes to play with dinosaurs since he swallowed the fruit Ryu Ryu no Mi, Pteranodon model, another Ancient Zoan . For what little we saw of him, he still revealed some great qualities, ⭐ mainly in terms of physical power. However, his bonus has not yet been revealed.
The Tobi Roppo
Just below the Calamities are the Tobi Roppo which can easily be translated into French as “The Six Flying Warriors”. These are the ones considered to be the strongest pirates in Kaido's crew below the Calamities. We find X Drake, Page One, Who's Who, Ulti, Black Maria and finally Sasaki. Who are the Headliners?
Just below the Tobi Roppo are found the Headliners . They are the ones who are responsible for leading the troops and Kaido entrusts them with specific missions. They have an important role since they generally occupy the highest positions in the towns and villages of Wano Country. This is where high-ranking officials live, outside the flowery capital. 🌻 They manage lower level issues, but are still important, because it is necessary to ensure the management of this empire . This is particularly the case in Bakura, a town in the Kuri province where there are three characters that we know well: Holdem, Basil Hawkins and Speed.
Many of them also ate a Devil Fruit, or at least Smile Fruits, which are artificial Zoan-like productions created by Kaido. As we explained earlier, climb the hierarchy can be done quickly and several extremely powerful pirates very quickly found themselves in these key positions. 🗝️ This was particularly the case of X Drake, who only joined the crew during the timeskip and yet had already become Headliner well before the Wano Kuni Arc. Allies of Kaido's crew , they obviously also have horns on their heads and most have mouths that reveal large, sharp teeth. 🦷 Their weapons are pointed clubs, which can be compared to the one Kaido uses.
Their reputation precedes them, so much so that they can be compared to a sort of Bogeyman, as children fear them so much. 😈 It is difficult to say whether this is a legend or the truth , given that their personality remains unknown at present. However, we know that they have a big drinking problem, which particularly irritates Queen. Their instability is also to be noted and it would not be surprising to see them attack their own allies of the Hundred Beasts crew .
Who is Kaido's son?
Kaido's son was therefore his daughter! After maintaining the mystery, Oda ended up revealing the true identity of Kaido's son: Yamato ! A great admirer of Oden Kozuki, Kaido's former sworn enemy, she identified with him to the point of cutting ties with her father, 🛑 to be able to "open the doors of the country" as Oden dreamed of.
This is why for a long time, she hid the fact that she was a woman to take on the appearance of a man and hide herself under a mask and long clothes. 🎭 Everyone who passed her then took her for a man, fueling the rumor that Emperor Kaido had a son!
We had to wait until chapter 983 for us to finally discover his identity! Despite Kaido's amazement, he ended up accepting his daughter's choice and even seems to hope that she will eventually join him in his projects. But this is not the case, 😔 and Yamato does not hesitate to attack the own members of the Hundred Beasts crew, as was the case when she attacked Ulti !
Who made Kaido's scar?
We have to go back to chapter 970 to remember how the cross-shaped scar ❌ that Kaido tries to hide on his stomach appeared. It was 20 years ago. As Oden Kozuki and his 9 servants took the road to Onigashima, the emperor intercepted them with his crew. The clash took place in the Udon region.
During the battle, Oden Kozuki managed to hit Kaido in the stomach with his swords. 🗡️ This is where the famous cross-shaped scar comes from. Oden, however, did not have the opportunity to inflict more damage on his enemy, Kaido having taken advantage of the distraction produced by Kurozumi Higurashi. The latter had taken the appearance of Oden's son, thus providing Kaido with the opportunity to strike him from behind and capture him.
Devil Fruits Smile
These fruits are a type of Zoan-type devil fruit. 🍍 Completely artificial, they are the creations of scientist Caesar Clown and have been used extensively by Kaido in his quest to have a crew made up entirely of members who have eaten them.
Their big difference from true devil fruits, beyond their appearance, consists of the incomplete nature of the powers they transmit. This is why we've never seen the Gifters, lower-class members of the Hundred Beasts crew, fully transform into the animal 🐕 that matches the model of their fruit.
Additionally, when a pirate eats a smile fruit, he loses his ability to swim. Another big flaw in these creations is that only 10% of the people who were able to eat them really possessed the powers that were supposed to be linked to them. The 90% gained no positive power and remained unable to swim 🤿 and express their emotions. Too bad, because a good part of Kaido's crew found themselves in this situation: we call these sailors the "Pleasures".
Don Quixote Doflamingo
In his desire to have a crew composed entirely of men who had eaten a devil fruit , Kaido began to collaborate with the black market, and particularly with Don Quixote Doflamingo , also called "the joker". 🃏 Doflamingo bought and sold these fruits to Caesar Clown, who owned a laboratory that produced and delivered huge quantities of SAD substances.
Despite this well-defined plan, Kaido didn't seem to particularly like Doflamingo. 🦩 And this was even less the case when Trafalgar Law, allied with Monkey D. Luffy, destroyed the factory in order to weaken Kaido's army . Terrified, Doflamingo was scared to death at the thought of enraging the emperor.
And yet, when Kaido learned that the factory had been destroyed , he did not really give the impression of being angry 😡 at Doflamingo, who had not been able to prevent the disaster. In fact, it was much worse. Kaido wasn't angry because he despised Doflamingo, just considering him far too weak to carry out this kind of project...
The worst generation under the influence of Kaido
The worst generation includes the Eleven Supernovae, a term referring to the number of pirates 🏴☠️ whose fame is well established and whose bonuses are each greater than 100,000,000 Berrys . All had arrived at the Sabaody Archipelago at the same time during the Battle of Marineford.
Kaido necessarily first saw in them a threat to his own empire, 🤴 before seeing them as excellent pirates who could ultimately become his subordinates . This is how the emperor went about integrating them into his crew.
Scratchmen Apoo
Scratchmen Apoo, also nicknamed "the roaring tide" had a bounty of 198 million Berrys 💲 when Kaido attacked him. Two years after the Battle of Marineford , Scratchmen joined forces with Eustass Kidd and Basil Hakwins to defeat Red Shanks. But it was ultimately Kaido who attacked them first, before they could complete their mission.
Although the fight could not be detailed in the manga, we can still see Scratchmen Apoo talking to the emperor through snail phones. 🐌 Even if we don't have clear evidence, everything suggests that Scratchmen became one of Kaido's subordinates following the battle.
Basil Hawkins
Basil Hawkins, known as the Magician, was probably one of the most dangerous supernovas of the Worst Generation era . Today, his rating has risen again to reach the incredible figure of 320 million berries placed on his head. He too ended up joining Kaido's subordinates after his attempted alliance 💍 with Scratchmen Apoo and Kid failed.
XDrake
He is nicknamed “the red flag” 🧧 and today he is part of the Tobi Roppo of the Hundred Beasts crew. Suffice to say that even more than the others, he wanted to join the cause of Emperor Kaido. For the simple reason that X-Drake is actually an undercover member of the Navy.
After the Battle of Marineford, X-Drake had the opportunity to land on an island in the New World particularly appreciated by Kaido. 🏝️ It was no coincidence, he actually absolutely wanted to fight the emperor... Even if we didn't know the result of the fight, two years later, X Drake was now part of Kaido's alliance !
