Captain Trafalgar D. Water Law
Trafalgar D. Water Law, commonly known as Law, is the captain of the Heart Pirates. Note that this crew is mainly made up of doctors. 👨🏼⚕️ He is from Flevance, otherwise known as White City, an island located in North Blue. As previously stated, Law is part of the Eleven Supernovae, a group of pirates renowned for their crimes and whose capture bounty is quite high. Before the two-year timeskip, his personal bounty of 200,000,000 Berrys was the fifth highest of those eleven pirates.
During the timeskip, Trafalgar Law obtained the status of Corsair Captain under the orders of the World Government. On the other hand, after Navy Admiral Issho alias Fujitora learned that he had allied himself with the Mugiwaras, he stripped him of this title. So, following the events that took place in the Dressrosa Arc, Law saw his bounty rise to 500,000,000 Berrys. Let us briefly note that this character nourishes the dream of discovering the famous treasure 💎 of One Piece like many other pirates of this era.
A formidable and wise pirate, Trafalgar D. Law is seen as one of the most powerful of his generation. Furthermore, after the two-year hiatus, his power has increased so much that he is feared by everyone, even by the Navy officers at the G-5 naval base who are themselves renowned for their cruelty. . Note also that his capture bonus had at one point exceeded that of Luffy before he became Grand Corsair and brought the World Government a hundred pirate hearts.
Other proof of his power: he defeated Vice-Admiral Smoker who holds a Logia-type Devil Fruit as well as the powerful fighter Vergo, The Bamboo Demon despite the latter having beaten him up. He was also able to ward off an attack launched by Navy Admiral Issho. He shows great courage, has incredible physical strength and great endurance.
In addition, Monkey D. Luffy revealed that Law had mastered Haki, although the extent of his abilities is still unknown. However, he demonstrated his good mastery of Busoshoku no Haki when he used it to block Corsair Captain Don Quixote Doflamingo's technique called Goshikito or Five Color Strings . He also used it to attack the latter after hardening his fist and his foot. He also seems to have used Kenbunshoku no Haki or Observation Haki to avoid an arrow imbued with Haki fired by an Amazon.
Trafalgar D. Law's skills are not limited to what has been said above. His great medical expertise combined with his incredible combat skills have earned him the nickname Surgeon of Death. In particular, he was able to treat and cure Luffy as well as Jinbe the Sea Paladin . The latter being a Fishman, we can therefore conclude that Law's medical and surgical skills are not confined to human anatomy.
In addition to this, Law is also the possessor of a Nodachi, a large sword wielded with two hands. Named Kikoku, this sword is cursed, but it is one of the 83 famous swords called the Meito . Furthermore, Trafalgar Law knows how to wield this blade with formidable precision and he often combines his saber techniques with the powers of his Devil Fruit. He is notably able to cut up an entire mountain or even a meteorite with his Nodachi.
Devil Fruit Ope Ope no Mi
The captain of the Heart Pirates ate a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit, namely the Ope Ope no Mi or Scalpel Fruit, which transforms its user into a Man Modifier . Thanks to the power of this Devil Fruit, the user is able to establish a delimited spherical zone of aura around him and named "Room". The latter is light blue and translucent in color and its size is defined by the user according to their needs. He has the power to manipulate anything in this area, whether objects (cannonballs, ships, etc.) or living beings.
There is complete control over the placement and orientation of objects or people and can then separate or move them spatially. This ability allows the user to dismember their enemies from a distance using their sword, ⚔️ and this without them suffering or dying. And, with this power, Trafalgar Law appears to be able to cut people to pieces in a flash. Note also that the user has the possibility of gathering the cut pieces as he wishes. As an example, Trafalgar Law once attached the head of a Navy soldier to a barrel. The effect of this power remains active even after the user removes their aura sphere. On the other hand, the reassembly of the scattered pieces can be carried out once the sphere has been removed, whether by Law himself or another person.
Know that the powers of Ope Ope no Mi go even further. In fact, the user can also lift and move objects in the Room. He can thus move people inside the sphere and change their place. He can also use his Room to teleport himself. He also has the ability to swap people's hearts with each other as well as swap their personalities through the technique called Shambles .
In the latter case, the user is the only one able to restore the inverted personalities, but on condition that the original bodies are present. It is important to note that if the user performs a soul swap, the abilities of targets linked to a Devil Fruit remain in their original body. On the other hand, other abilities such as Haki follow the inverted souls. We notably saw Sanji using his Observation Haki via Nami's body. The powers of this Devil Fruit have some weaknesses. Their effects are notably limited to the defined area of the aura sphere. All people who are outside of this zone or who manage to leave it cannot be affected.
Another of its weaknesses is that its use is dangerous for the user due to the fact that this Devil Fruit 🍇 is exhausting. Indeed, Traflagar Law mentioned the fact that keeping the Room permanently active requires a lot of energy. Furthermore, if we believe Smoker, the inconsistency of a Logia-type Devil Fruit can offer some protection against the powers of Ope Ope no Mi. Smoker also says that good mastery of a Haki can offer resistance to this Devil Fruit. However, Trafalgar Law managed to slice Vergo in two even though he had used his Weaponry Haki fully.
Members of the Heart crew
The Heart Pirates have a total of twenty members, in addition to Trafalgar Law. This crew stands out for one specificity, namely that all its members are dressed in the same white suit, with the exception of its captain and the new recruit Jean Bart who had to opt for a black shirt. This jumpsuit features the crew's Jolly Roger 🏴☠️ on the front. As for Bepo, he is also dressed in the same outfit except that his costume is orange. Note that the members of this crew have not yet all been revealed but, among those who are known to us to date, we know that Bepo, Shachi and Penguin are experts in martial arts. Bepo
Little brother of Zepo (killed by Big Mom on the Totto Land Archipelago), Bepo is a polar bear from the Mink Tribe and born on the island of Zô. His position on the Heart Pirates is navigator and he must be quite proficient in this field given that he was able to bring the crew to the New World. On the other hand, his skills in terms of cartography seem to leave something to be desired in view of the map of the island of Dressrosa which he made for Trafalgar Law. His strength is significant since he resisted Silvers Rayleigh's Fluid . With his martial arts skill and fighting style comparable to those of true experts like Bruce Lee, he possesses incredible agility and as a Mink, he certainly has the ability to manipulate electricity. Jean Bart
Jean Bart was previously a fearsome pirate captain (Trafalgar Law recognized him as such) who was later enslaved ⛓️ by the World Nobles . He was introduced in the manga as a slave to Saint Roswald who collected pirate captains. He later joined the Heart Pirates after Trafalgar Law freed him from the Celestial Dragons. Jean Bart has great physical strength as he was able to demolish a bridge with a single punch. Furthermore, even after enduring all the suffering inflicted by the Roswald family, Bart remains a person with excellent resilience and incredible willpower. Additionally, Bart has been seen using a fast movement technique that is similar to Soru or Incision. As for his role within the crew, he is presented as a helmsman in the anime.
Penguin
Next comes Penguin, a member of the Heart Team. He grew up as an orphan with Shachi and lived with the latter's uncle and aunt, but both were treated as slaves, causing them to run away. So they lived alone in a cabin located in a forest on the Island of Smallow in the North Blue region. This is how Penguin and Shachi encountered Bepo when they wanted to attack the latter, but Law intervened to rescue the polar bear and defeated them both. Like Bepo, he has great agility due to his martial arts skills. 🤼♂️
His fighting style is also very close to that of real martial arts experts. His hand-to-hand combat techniques prove to be quite effective. He also showed a lot of willpower when he was able to resist Silvers Rayleigh's Haki of the Kings on the Sabaody Archipelago in the Slave Auction House while most of the other characters present were knocked out. You should know that Penguin was also seen with a spear when Drought Jack, a Fishman from the Giant Grouper race , and his men attacked the island of Zô. We can therefore put forward the idea that Penguin must know how to handle spears well.
Shachi
Another member of the Heart Pirates, Shachi grew up with Penguin as an orphan when both lost their respective parents. The two joined Trafalgar Law's crew together after Law healed them from their injuries sustained when they were attacked by a wild boar. 🐗 Note that Shachi and Penguin love women. Additionally, they are both likeable characters and they have great loyalty to their captain.
Like Bepo and Penguin, Shachi is very strong in martial arts with a style that also resembles that of true martial arts experts. And like the other two, he also has excellent agility. He is also very effective with his hand-to-hand combat techniques. Despite revealing that he was almost knocked out by Silvers Rayleigh's Haoshoku no Haki , he was still able to resist it, demonstrating the great strength of his will. When Drought Jack and his pirates attacked the island of Zo, Shachi was seen wielding a katana. It seems obvious that he also knows how to use a sword.
Law's Allies
The Straw Hat Pirates
It was in the Punk Hazard Arc that it was revealed to us that Trafalgar Law had entered into an alliance with the Mugiwara. The goal of this alliance is to dethrone Yonkô Kaido . You should know that Law and Luffy had already teamed up for the first time, with Eustass Kid another Supernova, when they were on the Sabaody Archipelago 🏝️. Law has already saved Luffy's life during the Marine Ford War after he was mortally wounded.
Furthermore, several members of Law's crew were delighted to learn that their captain had allied himself with the Straw Hat Pirates. This was particularly the case for Penguin and Shachi. It was finally in the Zo Arc in the Whale Forest that the Heart pirates met Luffy and his crew. They celebrated with the latter as well as with the Minks despite the fact that they hated Luffy's bad tendency to always cut them off in the middle of a discussion. It was at this time that Jack and his entire fleet landed on the island of Zo to attack them. A battle followed which lasted five days and ended in their defeat.
Minks
The Mink Tribe is allied not only with the Kozuki Family, but also with the Heart Pirates. We know in particular in a flashback relating to Drought Jack's attack on the island of Zô that the pirates 💀 of the Heart came to the aid of the Minks. They were at their side during the five days that the battle lasted. They were ultimately defeated after Jack unleashed Extermin, a gas designed by scientist Caesar Clown. This gas had poisoned and greatly weakened the Minks as well as the members of the Heart Pirates. They were saved by Sanji and his group. Remember that one of the members of the crew comes from the Mink Tribe, namely Bepo.
Kozuki family
In order to defeat and dethrone Kurozumi Orochi, the Shogun in power in Wano Country, the Kozuki clan established an alliance with the Straw Hat Pirates and the Heart Pirates. The other objective of this triple alliance is also to defeat Kaido, one of the Four Emperors, 🤴🏼 who is precisely allied with Kurozumi Orochi. After the battle which took place on the island of Zô, the Heart Crew embarked for the Land of Wa in the company of the Samurai forming the 9 Red Scabbards of the Kozuki clan, the rescue group led by Sanji as well as the Minks . All these beautiful people were then joined by Luffy and Zoro who faced Kaido and the Pirates of the Hundred Beasts Pirates in the Wano Kuni Arc.
The Jolly Roger of the Heart crew
Like many other pirate crews from the North Blue, the Heart Pirates did not want to display a skull ☠️ as the Jolly Roger. Trafalgar Law and his pirates opted for a Smiley type instead. The latter looks a lot like a virus, which is an appropriate choice given the position its captain occupies and his epithet, namely "Surgeon of Death". This Jolly Roger can be found both on the outfits of each member of the crew and on the side of their ship.
Law's Crew Ship
The members of the Heart Pirates travel primarily via a submarine which was first seen in Chapter 578, Episode 487 titled Toward the New Era . This yellow-colored submarine was named Polar Tang, which was revealed in the SBS (The Questions Everyone Asks) of Volume 82. Unlike other pirate ships which move by means of the wind, the Polar Tang has a motor and moves using ocean currents. However, even though it is a submarine, it was designed like a ship with two large masts fore and aft as well as lamppost-like structures. 💡 The upper decks are made of wood and several small round windows have been installed at the upper part.
Furthermore, we find on the side the Jolly Roger of the crew accompanied by the word death in reference to Trafalgar Law's tattoos on his hands and his nickname "The Surgeon of Death". Remember that this crew is mainly made up of doctors, so it is normal to see this submarine equipped with medical devices as well as survival systems placed in the infirmary. When underwater, this submarine shows excellent maneuverability and very good speed of movement. We were particularly able to see this when the ship was able to get ahead of the enormous wave 🌊 of ice caused by Admiral Kuzan alias Aokiji thanks to his Devil Fruit, the Hie Hie no Mi or Givro-Fruit . This was also the case when the crew was able to escape the destructive beams of light launched by Borsalino aka Admiral Kizaru through his Devil Fruit, the Pika Pika no Mi. As can be seen in the photo, this submarine has cannons.
Strength of the Heart crew
This crew seems to possess undeniable power for several reasons. The first is that they managed to get to the Sabaody Archipelago and the seonce and that they have one of the Eleven Supernovae as captain. Furthermore, the Heart Pirates have undoubtedly improved their strength with the arrival of a newcomer in the person of Jean Bart, a legendary former pirate captain. As proof of the power of this crew, we can particularly speak of the resistance shown by each member during the explosion 💥 of Silvers Rayleigh's Haki of the Kings. We can also cite their ability to escape from the Sabaody Archipelago like the other Supernovae when Admiral Kizaru landed there. Another great strength of this crew is their skills in the medical field. In fact, they have what could be considered a complete operating room within their submarine. In addition, their captain Trafalgar Law was able to put Monkey D. Luffy back on his feet while the latter was on death's door.
As seen previously, the main members of Law's crew known to date are all true martial arts experts, like Bepo, Penguin and Shachi. Added to this, new member Jean Bart brings with him his great physical strength. However, their captain remains the great strength of this crew. In addition to being one of the Eleven Supernovae, he was also designated to be part of the Seven Great Corsairs after the two-year timeskip. He only lost this title because Navy Admiral Fujitora discovered that he had entered into an alliance with the Straw Hat Pirates . As a demonstration of his power, Trafalgar Law was able to defeat a troop of the Navy, but also Vice-Admiral Smoker, the White Hunter while he ate the Moku Moku no Mi, a Devil Fruit type 😈 Logia. It is important to note that here, Law had not called upon the powers of his Haki even though he managed to tear out Smoker's heart.
