When it comes to defeating the Titans, Levi Ackerman is the shining star 🌟 of the Attack on Titan world. He possesses incredible battlefield skills and enough strategic intelligence to make him a formidable opponent.
With all of this in mind, it's no wonder that Levi is a very beloved character among Attack on Titan fans. He spends a lot of time in the spotlight, whether during epic battle sequences or flashbacks to his childhood. But even with all the attention Levi receives during the anime, there's still a lot to learn 📖 about him.
Here are ten things you probably didn't know about Levi Ackerman.
10 – Levi was a thief
Fans who have seen Levi and his total commitment to his cause will probably be surprised to learn that the captain was once a criminal! Being raised by Kenny the Ripper certainly left its mark on Levi, and while he never became the monster his uncle might have created, he did hang out with a gang of thieves before being caught by the authorities 👮♂️ and then forced to clean up his crimes.
Levi and the two other thieves he worked with: " Isabel and Furlan " joined the Survey Corps ⚔ as punishment 👩⚖️, but Levi is the only one of the three to have survived. Since his arrival, his priorities have changed completely. Of course, he still has the deceitful and ruthless nature within him that allowed him to succeed in becoming a criminal. But he's now honed those talents for the good of humanity, and playing the good guy suits him much better.
9 – He previously hated Major Erwin
In the Attack on Titan anime, Levi and Erwin have a relationship based on loyalty and respect, but it wasn't always that way between them. When Erwin first caught Levi and his friends stealing. He forced them to join the Battalion, Levi was not very happy 😡 with this arrangement. He focused his anger on Erwin, even vowing to kill him when the opportunity presented itself.
Of course, Levi changed his mind about the Survey Corps commander as time went on. But it's funny how much Levi once hated a man who became one of his most respected comrades .
8 – Levi’s story explains his manic side
The majority of Levi 's childhood was spent in the underground city, which is essentially the slums of the Attack on Titan world. His mother was a prostitute living in poverty when she gave birth to him. After his death, Levi was left with nothing . He was eventually taken in by Kenny , who taught him how to become a criminal in order to survive.
Given that Levi grew up in a dirty house and neighborhood, we can assume that this is the reason for his obsession with cleanliness. The anime often shows him insisting that the Battalion's quarters are spotless, and he can even be found with a cleaning mask and duster on various occasions. It's a recurring gag throughout the series, but it seems to have a much more sinister history than people give it credit for...
7 - The Rorshach in Watchmen inspired the character of Levi
Fans of Watchmen and Attack on Titan will be happy to know that the character of Levi was actually partially inspired by Rorshach from Watchmen 🎭. The manga's creator, Hajime Isayama , revealed that Rorschach is one of several characters that Levi is inspired by, and he certainly seems to be the most unexpected and interesting.
Both Rorschach and Levi are quite small, but they both have impressive combat skills and above-standard physical abilities. Like Rorschach, Levi is also willing to do sometimes immoral things to achieve an important goal. The white garment Levi wears around his neck is probably a nod 😉 to Rorschach and his white scarf, and it's honestly a pretty cool detail to pay homage to the character's inspiration.
6- Levi is older than he seems
Levi 's short stature and nonchalant attitude make many viewers believe he is in the early years of adulthood, but Levi 's age is a bit older than most people think. . After much fan speculation, Isayama confirmed that the character is in fact in his mid-30s .
Given Levi 's overall level, it makes sense that he has more life experience than the younger protagonists in the anime. But how to guess? The guy just looks young . May we all grow old like Levi Ackerman did! (and get so many muscles 💪 at the same time).
5 - Levi uses an unusual sword technique to fight the Titans
All members of the Battalion use blades to fight the Titans, but Levi 's fighting style is unusual compared to the others. When using his blades, Levi changes position so that he is holding his straight sword upside down with the blade facing outward. The blade is then turned towards the rear, which allows cutting in circular and swirling movements .This technique served Levi well throughout the series, and combined with his speed, it even allowed him to defeat the Beast Titan in single combat 🛡 (although the latter escaped to be honest...).
4 – Levi has a bad relationship with sleep
Levi has been a member of the Survey Corps for some time now, and the things survivors have witnessed beyond the walls are enough to give anyone nightmares. And Levi therefore has problems sleeping. More specifically, he suffers from insomnia, sleeping on average only 3-4 hours per night 😴 .
Due to his insomnia, Levi considers sleep a futile part of the day, so much so that he doesn't bother with a bed or pajamas. He often sleeps in his chair 💺 and doesn't bother to change clothes for the occasion. This seems uncomfortable, but apparently that's not a problem for Levi .
3 - Levi was born on December 25
Birthdays aren't often mentioned in Attack on Titan, and it makes sense that there's little time for parties or cake^🎂 when the characters are busy fending off 15m Titans... We don't know , looking at the anime whether or not the characters use the same calendar system as us...
But it's been confirmed that Levi's birthday is December 25 , which means Attack on Titan is on the same timeline as us. And Levi is a true gift 🎁 to the world of Attack on Titan, so it makes sense that he was born on Christmas Day.
2 - Livaï is a tea lover
With all the action happening in Attack on Titan, it's easy to overlook Levi's drinking preferences. But fans who pay attention will realize that Levi really seems to like drinking tea 🍵, which Isayama confirmed. In fact, Levi is such an avid tea drinker that he apparently goes to great lengths to ensure that tea is included in the shipments sent to the army.
Isayama also revealed that if the conflict between the Eldians and the Mahr ever ends, and the threat of the Titans ever disappears, Levi's dream is to open his own tea shop . Hopefully 🍀 he can see this dream come true. If anyone deserves peace after all this war, it's Levi .
1 - Levi is the fans' favorite character according to several surveys
Although Eren, Mikasa and Armin are the three main characters of Attack on Titan, Levi seems to be the favorite. Levi has come in first place 🥇 more than once in SNK character popularity contests.
Levi 's popularity is also confirmed by the fact that he got his own OAV adaptation: No Regrets . Fans were eager to learn more about the character, and the series was generally well-received. Few characters who are not the main characters of the work in which they are located are the favorites among the latter... But Levi is not impossible !
